If we had to guess, we would say roughly 95% of us who do CrossFit despise running or any other cardio (Hey Echo Bike, where you at!?) that doesn’t involve cycling a barbell.
There are, however, some great health benefits that come from running, such as...
Nicole just passed her 3 year mark with us, and what an incredible journey it has been! 3 years ago, Nicole came to us with a willingness to try something new. As an avid runner and health advocate, Nicole wanted to challenge herself and improve her overall strength for daily tasks and for her running. And that's exactly what she has done!
In addition to maintaining a regular running schedule, Nicole attends the CrossFit group classes 2-3X/week. We're pretty sure the only weeks she hasn't come to the gym are when she is sick or on vacation. Otherwise, you can bet she will be in her 6:30pm evening class!
While there are so many accomplishments we can recall since Nicole first joined, there are two that stand out.
With the change of season and the warmer weather starting to appear, many try to make a change in their “diet” to lean out and transform their body before summer hits. Here at 6S, we went against the norm, not focusing on the just the body changes but instead the positive health behaviour changes to improve overall health, feel better and perform better - for summer and for every other season of the year!
Starting April 1st, 30 participants embarked on a 6-week journey to start making better health choices to improve performance, energy and overall well-being. The group was led by our two Food for 6S Dietitians - Alysha Coughler and Leigh Merotto - who provided guidance and support to the brave participants venturing on this journey.
